Product Certification
Certification is the process of issuing an official document that confirms a person, product, service, system, or process complies with specified standards or regulatory requirements. It is a key mechanism for ensuring quality, safety, and independent conformity verification across many sectors, including education, IT, manufacturing, medical services, quality management, tourism, and others.
For products, certification confirms that a product meets defined safety norms and applicable standards. This is especially important for products that affect health, user safety, or the environment, such as medical equipment, electrical devices, and construction materials.
The certification process differs depending on the scope and normative or regulatory requirements. It typically includes product testing, documentation review, and assessment of manufacturing or operational capabilities. Certificates are issued for a defined period of validity and may require renewal or periodic surveillance audits, depending on the certification scheme.
Certification helps consumers, clients, and employers make informed, lower-risk decisions, while strengthening trust in certified products, services, and professionals whose competencies and compliance have been independently verified by a qualified third party.
