The Pellet or briquette Quality Certificate can be issued for a specific type of fuel, and the owner of the certificate can be the manufacturer, importer, or seller of the product.

The certificate is granted exclusively for a specific fuel product that is under constant supervision and control of the certifying body and the certificate owner, indicating that the certified pellet meets the requirements of the given class.

Companies holding the PQC certificate, are obliged to continuous, random checks of the parameters of the product covered by the program. This ensures that the recipient can be confident that the pellet or briquette has the appropriate properties.

Until 2021, pellet certifications were conducted according to the standard: EN 14961, but currently the applicable standard is EN ISO 17225.

In addition to the requirements mentioned above, during certification, the evaluating unit considers the requirements of THE REGULATION ON THE QUALITY REQUIREMENTS FOR PELLETS AND BRIQUETTES dated May 24, 2025

Note:

Transitional provisions will apply until the end of 2025.

Briquettes or pellets produced before June 1, 2025, can be sold until the end of the current year, provided they meet the quality standards of previous legal acts.

Certification

Certification is carried out in the following stages according to the standard EN ISO 17225-2:2021:

Stage 1.

Analysis and selection of guidelines applicable to the product / analysis of guidelines applied by the Client.

Stage 2.

Selection of the method for assessing product compliance.

Stage 3.

Conducting compliance assessment and all required controls. Assigning Pellet or Briquette Class.

Stage 4.

A positive assessment result is the basis for issuing the Pellet Quality Certificate.

Stage 5.

Quality supervision of pellets and ongoing control..

How to obtain the Pellet or Briquette Quality Certificate.

The first step in certification is to submit an application. Then, after determining the certification costs and signing the certification agreement, the required documents and test reports must be provided. As a rule, applying for a certificate usually consists of an audit part (primarily aimed at confirming compliance with the accepted requirements), a testing part (raw material testing, etc.), and a verification part (conducted after the certificate is granted).
